Famed California interior designer Amber Lewis’ first book, this one was a n aesthetic challenge! Amber’s style is layered, earthy and warm, with contemporary and sophisticated styling . . . completely different from all my previous books!

Using the talents of Jenny Beal Davis for a Picture Dummy was key. Unsurprisingly, we got HUNDREDS of photos from Amber, and rather than run the clock out choosing which photos would work, my AD advised that Amber’s team would have strong opinions…so my time was better spent elsewhere. She was right!

That out-sourcing allowed me time to obsess over fonts and immerse myself in Amber’s style…I searched for elegant, not-yet-popular fonts with ever-so-slight typographic details that was readable at small sizes. I fiercely protected my white space. When the time came for the cover, I obsessed over proofing it with the Production Manager, Kim, who is a Master to all who know her.

I was restrained.
